Outsourcing and privatization are proven means to limit government by relying on the private sector to deliver public services more effectively. Some of the benefits of privatization and outsourcing include:
- Realization of efficiencies in state agencies and services;
- Facilitating reforms within agencies or in the delivery of services; and,
- Utilization of private sector expertise.
The Outsourcing and Privatization Task Force will study the strength of outsourcing and privatization as a tool to deliver government services based on the experience of governments at the local, state, and federal levels. Through this study, the Task Force will recommend how to better leverage the private sector so that government may further avail itself of the benefits of the private sector. The Task Force will make the public case for the limited government benefits of outsourcing and privatization.
